Please Blizzard, Don’t Nerf Us!

April 10th, 2008 by jessica112

“Druids already have a tough time as healers for a lot of reasons. We have difficulty dealing with spike damage, and this can make some of the more difficult 5-man and raid encounters more difficult. We don’t have an Out of Combat Rez, so if your five man wipes, chances are everyone has to hoof it back. (What I wouldn’t do for an OOC rez…but that’s another topic!) What CC we have is very limited and conditions specific. We don’t have a lot of “utility” or buffs to offer. Most of the time we can’t see our fancy gear. Basically, the Resto Druid is a one-trick pony. But that one trick, boy. Wowza. Our HOTs are the bee’s knees. wow gold We can keep multiple targets in full health by the strength of our Lifebloom and Rejuvination spells alone. Because of this strength, the Tree Druid has come to be quite useful in raiding situations. Sure, we can’t really deal with spike damage, but we can alleviate spike damage and kind of smooth it out for the other healers in the raid. Once maligned, the Tree Druid is now a sought after addition to most raiding groups. Now it seems Blizzard has seen fit to reduce the effectiveness of our primary, Numero Uno healing spell . Lifebloom. wow lvl service For patch 2.4, currently on the PTR, Lifebloom has taken a hit with the nerf bat. From the numbers I have read, Lifebloom took approximately an 8% hit in effectiveness. I won’t get into math here, there is plenty out there for you to see. In the simplest terms, our most useful, most effective spell is now not as effective. Why. Was it unbalancing raid encounters. wow gold No. It’s not like having a Tree Druid is an “I Win” button for ZA or SSC or anything else.

Was it unbalancing 5 man encounters. Most certainly not. We can be quite effective 5 man healers, but in the end groups usually prefer a Priest or Holy Pally. wow leveln The reason for the nerf, it is assumed, is PvP and, more specifically, 2v2 arenas. Resto Druid teams have been so effective in 2v2, that a great deal of whining about our class has surfaced. For those whiners, I encourage you to roll a druid and see just how “OP” we are. I’m asking you Blizzard, please don’t nerf us. We have enough limitations as it is, don’t take away our one sharp stick. You can read other thoughts on this change on the following pages/blogs: Moonfire, Resto4Life, Lifebloomer, Leafshine and HealerLFG. ” “And I mean that in a good way. wow level service By now you know I play a Resto Druid on Whisperwind, and I don’t often have a lot of time for any kind of raiding. I have a 1 year old at home and another on the way, and I generally don’t log on until the baby and the wife hit the sack, and even then for not very long. My guild sets up raids during “prime time” hours, and I can almost NEVER make it. Recently, I found out that one of the guilds in our alliance runs a late night Kara on the weekends. Wahoo! Finally, a run I can at least occasionally participate in. Well, this weekend I scored. And I mean REALLY scored.RELATED LINKS:http://wowgoldmaster.iblog.com/

As My Gear List Shrinks…

April 10th, 2008 by jessica112

“This just isn’t possible with SSC or The Eye. Not only do you need 25 bodies, you need 25 very specific bodies. With Kara, I’ve been able to take all comers for sign ups. Get two tanks, three healers and fill the rest with DPS. Pretty simple. With SSC, my guild has just begun working on it, and have only had one run so far. As was the problem with Kara before, I CAN NOT make runs at the times my guild has them. This past Saturday I had a VERY rare opportunity to raid on a Saturday, signed up for SSC, and it was cancelled due to a lack of signups. Bummer. I guess that’s just the way things are. That pretty much sums up what it means to be a true “casual” player. wow gold I may never see Hyjal, the Black Temple, or any other real “end-game” raids. I just have to learn to live with that. So now I’m torn. I suppose I could drop skinning and work on another tradeskill. (Alchemy maybe. Engineering. wow lvl service ) I would also love my epic flying skill, but 5k gold is awful intimidating. Of course I have a variety of alts, too, including a shadow priest I’ve begun to play again. So who else finds themselves in a similar predicament. How do you adjust. Find other people to raid with. wow gold Go back to leveling alts. ” “My main has made great strides in the last month or so. Thanks to a very lucky Kara run, maxed Leatherworking and some other factors, Pummra is sitting nicely now, ready for SSC and beyond. On the flip side, this means that there is little I can do with him on my own. If I only have a couple hours of play time, my options are pretty limited. Spend some time farming.

wow leveln (I hate farming, I had enough of it putting together my Windhawk set) Do dailies or clear other soloable quests out of my log. (I’ve also never been much for dailies, the same quest over and over just doesn’t appeal to me!) Try to throw together a quick Heroic. (Tough to do many nights) Jump on an alt. So, for the most part, jump on an alt it is. I have a vast array of alts to choose from. wow level service I have a 41 Enhance Shammy, 40 Arms warrior, 42 Combat Rogue, 30 Shadow Priest and a 20 Fire Mage, along with a few ultra low level alts. I haven’t played Emerson, my Priest, in a LONG time. He is maxed for his level in Enchanting and Tailoring. I gave up leveling him some time ago because it was SOOO painful. If you’ve ever leveled a priest, you know what I mean. Sure, I’m damn hard to take down, but I’m not the most efficient killing machine, either. Mind Blast –> S :P –> Smite –> Wand –> Mind Blast Blah, blah blah. It just plain isn’t that much fun. Sure, I could group, but I HATE PUGs, and that’s what I’m stuck with for the most part. So he’s been sitting around in IF acting as my DE mule for any lower level stuff I come across. Well, as I’m preparing Pummra for my first foray into SSC, I spent some time reading up on Lurker and watching some videos. One was taken by a Shadow Priest, and I was in total awe. THAT looks like fun! Cool looking form, huge damage and utility. I’ve GOT to get Shadow Form. I can now see why people love to melt faces! ” . RELATED LINKS:http://wowgoldmonster.edublogs.org/

Kissing Pavement in ZA

April 10th, 2008 by jessica112

“So we move on to the next pull, and again a scout got away or something, and again I found myself dirt napping. It was a little embarrassing, to be honest. I’m a better player than that, I have pretty good gear, but I really didn’t have time to prepare. I’ll usually read up on a raid beforehand- analyze maps, chat with people, get an idea on how it works. I really wasn’t expecting to be there, though. So it’s time to buckle down. One thing with me and healing is sometimes it takes me a few minutes to get “warmed up.” If I’m not expecting to be running a heroic, for instance, we might have an early wipe as I get my game in gear. Once I’ve been healing for a few and start to get my feel, though, it’s smooth sailing. I get in a sort of healing “zone” as I play whack-a-mole with all the little boxes. Thankfully, that was once again the case. I got nice and focused, tried to stick with one of the other healers, and kept a lookout for stray mobs. wow gold (This is where I’m glad I don’t need my heal target in LOS to get off my heals.) I managed to make it through the rest of the trash to the boss without dying again. If there’s one thing I love about WoW, it’s seeing new bosses. I love to learn new encounters, and figure out how best to help in tough situations. The Dragonhawk boss is the perfect example of this. There’s a few things you have to keep in mind during the fight, and it makes for a very interesting encounter. The bombs are easy enough to deal with when you get a good idea of their range. wow lvl service Once you realize random hawks may be flying around, they’re easy enough to avoid as well.

Overall he was very tough, but also very fair. I only died one time on the 4-5 times we tried that boss. (I’m not counting the 2 extra “run away and try to reset” deaths. :)) It was a lot of fun, but sadly we weren’t able to take him down. I feel like we were really close, but the raid was only scheduled to 10 and we lost a couple people at that point and called it a night. THIS is what I’ve been looking for. wow gold Kara, almost from the start, was flat out too easy. (Part of this is due to being a healer, which is a pretty easy job in Kara with a decent group.) Sure, there’s a thing or two you have to learn, but nothing like what I saw last night in ZA. Now I can’t wait to get in again. I’m just disappointed that I don’t know when that will be. ” “As I continue to improve Pummra’s gear, I find my opportunities for him shrink further and further. Friday night I got one of the last few drops I need from Kara in the [Earthsoul Leggings]. wow leveln I got them gemmed up and threw on some [Golden Spellthread], and that pushed me over 1700 heal. Once I got that cleared away, it was time to re-evaluate my gear and set up some new milestones. I looked at Heroic drops, badge gear, and Kara drops. Not much there for me, anymore. There are some marginal upgrades in badge gear, but nothing I wanted to grind out badges to pick up. Kara has a few drops I’d like to see still, but nothing that I NEED. That led me to look at sidegrade items, in case I ever wanted to respec to feral (which I do miss) or try a balance spec some day. So what’s the problem.
wow level service 2 months ago I had a nice, big list of gear I wanted/needed for Pummra. I needed to level my LW for Windhawk, I needed to get in Kara for a variety of drops there, many heroic drops and much of the badge gear were nice, big upgrades for me. Now, more and more, I’m seeing that if I really want to progress, it’s time for 25 man raids. Ugh. Double Ugh. Trust me, I WANT to run SSC. I want to hit The Eye and work towards Hyjal and beyond. The problem is, I’m lucky if I can set aside four hours for raiding once a week. My guild recently moved Kara to “full farm” status, so anyone and everyone can set up runs. I’ve started running Kara once a week in a way that fits into MY schedule. ” . RELATED LINKS:http://www.wowgoldhunter.blogspot.com

Isle of Quel’Danas Progression

April 1st, 2008 by jessica112

“There’s a player asking about why some of the lower populated realms are progressing faster in the Isle of Quel’Danas progression then some of the realms that got higher population. Drysc answers that there’s no other factors at work other than the hard work of the realms population. Each phase, and the subsequent “”add ons”" for each phase (anvil, alchemy table, etc.) require a set number of turn ins of the specific quests that fund them. There’s no mechanic that increases that number. So no, a realm with a higher population is not handicapped. There is however a mechanic that will auto-complete each phase after a set amount of time for those realms that aren’t able to complete them within a “”decent”" amount of time. What you may be seeing is a general cool down of people taking part in those quests. I can’t really say why your realm may be seeing a slower progression aside from them just not completing as many quests as another realm. For those of us completely uninformed, does the badge vendor start selling badge stuff once phase 2 has been completed. wow powerleveling Or is there one more period of time where dailies need to be done in order to get to the vendor. Once the Armory is taken over you can begin building the Anvil, once the Anvil is complete the new badge vendor becomes available. http://www.gorgonnash.info/ keeps track of Patch 2.4 Sunwell (Isle of Quel’Danas) Event Progression. It’s worth to check out! Read more “About a week and a half ago I reported on an experience I had in Mount Hyjal while fighting Azgalor. While the fight went fine and we did him in one try, I wasn’t on Azgalor’s threat list and thus did not get any loot. I wasn’t on the threat table because I had to tank some spawned demons up and away from the rest of the raid.

wow honor It was a rather nice conflict of game mechanics. This all happened on Tuesday, March 18th. By Saturday, March 22nd, I had the two shiny pieces of loot that were coming to me: Glory of the Defender and Onslaught Handguards. Specialist Game Master Skelend had sent me the items, along with a form letter apologizing for the issues we experienced in game. I was quite happy to see this resolved. cheap wow gold I was even more pleased that it was resolved quickly and did not take a few weeks; as many people, both those of you who left comments and friends of mine that I talked to, said it would. So what are we doing to make sure this never happens again. Well for one thing, all the melee is hitting the boss now with a ranged weapon after the tank gets a couple hits in. That’s pretty much all we can do to assure this problem doesn’t pop up again for us. Despite a few enquires I’ve made, there is no word from Blizzard if they’ve fixed this. wow honor I suspect that one day it’ll just be hotfixed without much fanfare. All in all, not a terrible experience when something went wrong. Quick and quality support from Blizzard. ” .RELATED LINKS:

“Blacksmithing 345-375

April 1st, 2008 by jessica112

“Im 346 I believe. Its getting hard to get exp pts. I had to make two (still yellow to me) pieces to get one pt. I have one orange item left. Where can I get some recipes. I found the Adamanite armor recipes from a vendor. What rep should I work on to get recipes that way. It does start to get tricky from here. If I remember rightly, you get quite a few by hitting Honored with Cenarion Expedition - these are things that you may have already as they are relatively low lvl. wow powerleveling I found that for a considerable part of the levelling process it was more economical to make lots and lots of items that were green, rather than orange things that required lots of primals. If I remember correctly, Adamantite Weightstones are a good one - they only cost an adamantite bar and a netherweave cloth. Once you can no longer do that, there are basically two routes: 1. Make lots of rep-based blues at a considerable loss (because lots fo people are doing the same - as an example, on my server Flamebane Gloves cost about 130g of mats to produce, and sell for around 30g. 2. Farm for, or hope for, a random drop - there are a fair few BoP blue recipies that will get you a long way. Some of them are loss-makers, some will break even. Examples are the Felsteel set and the Khorium set. wow honor If you are rich, you can go and buy an epic recipe or two on the AH -but you generally need 365 skill to make these. IMHO blacksmithing is still pretty broken unless you want the BoPs… despite having a couple of nice recipies (one of which (epic one) actually makes an occasional profit), I’m considering ditching it for jewelcrafting.” ” There’s been many changes to the art and graphics direction in Pirates of the Burning Sea.

Below you can view a recent journal entry made by the Art Director of PotBS. He’s showing how much of an improvement all of the changes have caused. cheap wow gold Pretty neat! One of the main things they’ve changed is the number of people working in their art team. They went from about three to thirty! It’s been a while since I’ve written a devlog, and since we have so many new folks in the game Aether thought it would be a good idea for a reintroduction. For those of you who may not know, my name is Bruce Sharp and I am the art director for Pirates of the Burning Sea, and I started working here at Flying Lab Software three years ago this month. There have been a lot of changes and expansions on this project since then so I thought it would be fun to take a look back to see where we started, how we got here, and speculate on where we’re going. wow honor When I interviewed for the position, the game was entirely a ship combat game and at the time I thought, “This is the coolest bathtub EVER and I really want to play in it!” Granted, it was a cold and ugly bathtub, but that was the point: this game needed an artist! I was very hopeful that that artist was going to be me because I had a vision in my head of how it could look and I was excited to get started on it. Here’s how the game looked then: .RELATED LINKS:

Hybrid Theory: Magisters’ Terrace, stomping all over your comfort zone

April 1st, 2008 by jessica112

“We’ve been talking about Magisters’ Terrace a lot. I have been talking about Magisters’ Terrace a lot. Lucky you, we’re going to talk about it some more! Magisters’ Terrace is the brand new 5-man that came with Patch 2.4, so it comes across as much harder than it actually is. It is hard, sure, but not the soul-rending pain we’re all feeling right now. All new dungeons require a period of adjustment. I remember when Dire Maul first came out, way back in the day. Everyone thought it was utterly horrifying. During this period of adjustment, you’re going to run into groups being far more strict about group composition. Once the community has become accustomed to the difficulty level of Magisters’ Terrace, things will ease up. Currently, a lot of damage specced hybrids are having a rough time finding a group consistently due to one pretty large factor: A lack of crowd control. There are a lot of things you can(and should) do to make up for that, and knowing those things will do a lot to contribute to speeding up the adjustment period. First, let me note that I’m not trying to tell DPS to not DPS. It’s your chosen role, and the role you were asked to play in your group. Do it! Do an awesome job of it. All I want to say is there are also other things you can be doing. These things may lower your DPS, but don’t let it halt your damage entirely. Focus on your utility. wow powerleveling Earth Shock and Purge completely lock down some of the mobs within Magisters’ Terrace. Purge cripples the Dawnblade Magisters, which can become very frightening if their self-buff stacks heavily. These particular mobs are immune to most crowd control anyway, so the ability to shut these down is fantastic. ” “I’ve noticed something a bit unexpected and confusing over the last few months: apparently, the way my server generally deals with loot in 5-mans is strange.

Rather than rely on the in-game roller, we pass on all loot, and let people call need on a piece. wow honor Then we all roll need or greed on the stuff. If there’s an enchanter in group, they can disenchant the loot for the winner on a greed roll and hand over a shard. Lately, though, since Blizzard started allowing server transfers, it seems a lot of the new 70s have come in and told us that this method is a bit weird. Why don’t we just use the in-game rolling system. cheap wow gold Why should enchanters be expected to automatically be willing to shard gear for non-enchanters without compensation. These are questions that are really alien to most of our server community, but there they are. So, I thought I’d ask you, dear readers. How do you deal with 5-man loot on your servers or groups. wow honor Do you just use the built in roll system. Do you use Master loot. Do you pass and discuss. Is it generally expected that an Enchanter will gladly shard loot for everyone in the group, or is it expected that an Enchanter only need shard his own loot. EU-Ysera, same here. If there is an enchanter, need rolls need, enchanter rolls greed, everyone else passes and we roll on shards directly or at the end of the run. It saves a lot of time on discussions and makes money, since Large Prismatic Shards are worth 25g each on the AH. Not every group I’ve pugged with has done it, though - if more than one person doesn’t get the concept of pass-so-it-is-sharded, the run is usually doomed…” .RELATED LINKS:

Officers’ Quarters: The road to mediocrity

March 26th, 2008 by jessica112

“Every Monday Scott Andrews contributes Officers’ Quarters, a column about the ins and outs of guild leadership. We’ve all come across those mediocre players. They are the hunters that can DPS but don’t know how to trap a mob; the shamans that never break crowd control but windfury their way to the top of the aggro list every single pull; the warriors who excel at single-target tanking but can’t hold more than one mob at a time. Where do these players come from, and how do they stay so mediocre after 70 levels. cheap wow gold The author of this week’s e-mail thinks he has the answer: The road to mediocrity is built by your own guild. Scott, I enjoy your Officers’ Quarters articles on WoWInsider.com, so maybe you can tackle this subject for me in your next piece: I am now a casual player (played since beta and used to be hardcore) and I’m in this nice and friendly social guild. I’m not an officer, nor do I have the desire to be one. I just want to log on and do whatever I feel like with my limited play time. wow power level This guild puts no pressure on me and I appreciate that. The guild leaders’ philosophy is to be helpful to one another – helping on whatever is needed by other members. wow gold Guild members get rank up by how much they help others. This was a noble idea . really cheap wow gold but there’s a huge caveat. One of the things that lower level members often ask higher members for help on is to run them through instances. However, there’s a very bad side effect to this: mediocrity. I’ve come to discover that instance run-throughs are a breeding ground for mediocrity. These players who get their hands held through low levels have no concept of class play or the dynamic of teamwork, and once they get to Outland instances where run-throughs aren’t as easily done, their mediocrity shows full and clear.” .

The accidental ninja

March 26th, 2008 by jessica112

“Spensi on WoW LJ says she may have accidentally ninja’ed — it was clear before the raid that if Moroes’ Pocket Watch dropped, she would get it. But when it actually dropped, she apparently looted it herself as main looter without saying anything, and her guildies didn’t quite remember the deal before the instance started. Was it a ninja. cheap wow gold I don’t know — there are good points on both sides. In fact, it seems the only way to really avoid loot drama is to, unfortunately, be as selfless as possible. Last night, I did a run of Ramparts on my up-and-coming hunter, and on the first boss, the Hunter mail pants dropped. The other Hunter in the party needed them as well, so we rolled on them, and I won. wow power level Later in the instance, another green piece came up that we both needed, but to be fair, I let him have it. And finally, on the second boss, the mail hands dropped, and I did need them, but once again, to avoid drama, I just let the other Hunter have them. wow gold I could probably have made a case for at least rolling on them, but it wouldn’t have been fair for me to walk away from the instance with two blues when he only had a green, so to keep the peace I let it go. It worked out, too, because I picked up some great blue hands anyway when I turned the quest in. And that’s the thing to remember when it comes to loot — there will always be more of it. Even if your item doesn’t drop, or you don’t win this roll, or your guildie gets angry because you nabbed an item, even though they knew you needed it, there’ll always be more drops and more rolls and more loot to get. ” .

Token based loot…good or bad?

March 26th, 2008 by jessica112

“The guys over at WoW Vault got this quote, I assume from someone at Blizzard, although it is not attributed to anyone in general. It basically states that Blizzard is going to try to focus more on reputation, tokens and turn-ins for their upcoming BC loot system. I have seen this alluded to before, and I will admit I am looking forward to seeing what they have planned. What I am hoping for is that it will be easier to snag the loot you want, rather than farming a boss forever and never seeing it drop. cheap wow gold As I have detailed before, my Devout robe NEVER dropped in 50+ UBRS runs. If I knew I just had to collect 5 red tokens of power and 8 blue stars of mana to claim my robe, it would give me a goal beyond “”oh, I hope he drops my robe, oh, damn, he didn’t….LFG UBRS Have Key”". Maybe this system will solve some of that. Also, it could, if implemented properly, give the dungeons more staying power. If you get access to some truly awesome gear at exalted, and you only get exalted via clearing a dungeon on hard mode a bunch of times, it will give rep farmers something to do. Granted, farming rep is farming rep, but farming as a team in a dungeon seems a little more fun than sitting in Silithus by yourself searching for Twilight Texts. What do you guys think. wow power level Am I only seeing the bright side here. Would you like a ZG/AQ20 style loot system in place for more dungeons. Or are you more partial to being a slave of the loot table. reviews : So would token loot be just for dungeon drops, like epcis, or for quests as well. wow gold Because for quest you already have to “”collect things”" to get loot and rewards.

I haven’t heard of this before but if it’s to get tier gear then I think it’s a good idea so you don’t have to rely sololy on drop schedules…If you could do it outside of raids and instances it would be good as well. Not everyone is a social players so it would be a chance for them to get way better gear.” .RELATED LINKS:

climbs off soapbox

March 23rd, 2008 by jessica112

“So, if you’re in the process of applying to a raiding guild, check out Gray Matter’s post on how they at least would approach your application. And in case you’re interested, here’s how I approached my guild research: I started with wowjutsu.com, to find the guilds on my server that were around the same progression level as me. It’s not perfect, but it will get you a good start (click Realms, then click on your server name). wow gold Clicking on the guild name in the search results gives you detailed information about the guild. From here I was trying to find guilds that weren’t already overloaded with Druids, had a reasonable number of members without being too big, and looked like they were proficient in the raids I was targeting. With this “short list” of guilds in hand, I did two things: weeded out certain guilds based on members I had grouped with in the past or behaviour I had noticed on my server. This wasn’t many guilds, but we all know a guild or two like this. Second, I tried to associate guilds with people I may have pugged with in the past that were especially helpful. wow power level Next, I did some searching for guild websites. I don’t care if my guild has a website or not frankly, but guild websites are a great way to find out what a guild philosophy is all about and get a feel for their members. Check out the raiding rules, check out their application, check out requirements to see if you are a fit. Most of all, check out their forums if you can. A guild’s forum are a great way to get a sense for the guild’s behaviour and attitudes. wow gold Sure the forums tend to be populated with only the most active guild members - but those same people are probably the ones driving the guild’s culture anyway.

Hopefully by this time you’ve narrowed down your list to a small number of guilds. If you have the time, look for some of these folks while you’re playing. If they are doing a daily, offer to help them and see what they’re like. Ask them some questions about their guild. wow power leveling This may be helpful in getting a sense for whether they are a fit and vice versa. Finally, it’s time to just pick and apply. I ended up just picking one and applying to it. wow level up You may want to pick more than one. If you’re applying to more than one, then you may want to be up front in your application about that fact. So no pearls of wisdom there, but hopefully some ideas that may help if you’re looking for a new guild. If anyone has other good ideas, please comment. If I get enough, I’ll put together a guide. Hopefully, I’ll be having a chat with the guild I applied to soon. I’ll let you know how it goes. “RELATED LINKS:
